Alcohol, car keys and handcuffs - Greenville DUI lawyer

In South Carolina, you can be arrested and charged with DUI if your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) measures .08 percent or more. You can also be arrested with a BAC less than this if you show signs of being impaired by alcohol and/or drugs. When arrested, if you refuse to submit to a chemical test as requested by the arresting officer, your license will be suspended for at least six months. For the best possible result at such a hearing, you should be represented by our attorney.

A first offense DUI carries the following penalties:

  • Depending on your BAC level, you will face from 48 hours up to 90 days in jail. A first offense with a BAC level of .16 percent or higher will result in the longest jail term.

Second, third, and subsequent offenses will result in harsher penalties. Third and subsequent offenses within a 10-year period will be charged as felonies.
